In expert-reviewed testing, Copilot delivered significantly higher accuracy than general-purpose AI. That advantage comes from being trained on a library of adopted codes, not the open internet.
Copilot surfaces diagrams inline to explain complex requirements visually, not just textually. Generic AI can describe code; Copilot helps teams understand it.
Every Copilot answer links directly to the exact adopted code section it references. Because it’s built on UpCodes’ maintained code library, citations are clear, current, and enforceable.
Copilot doesn't stop at answers; it creates checklists, saves research to projects, and carries context across your work. Generic AI lives in a chat box; Copilot powers an end-to-end compliance workflow.

UpCodes is laser-focused on code accuracy and has spent years building the technology, infrastructure, and expert team dedicated to quality code analysis. We compile code updates, amendments, and errata all in one place. Our process includes a comprehensive review where we integrate amendments, perform quality checks and use specialized proofreading tools to help identify errors.
No! All the updates are pushed automatically to the website. If the codes have been updated, those changes will automatically show up on your next page refresh.
Yes, when you first create a project, you can select a jurisdiction and code cycle for the project and make the project visible to the rest of your organization. You can then bookmark relevant codes, add firm-wide commentary on these sections, and set up typical project information within the code calculator, such as building program, occupancy, use, number of levels, areas, exits, etc. You can also invite collaborators to the project, so they can input information based on their specialties. Once this project is set up, you can lock it to prevent further changes and archive it, so it does not reside in your library of live projects. This will set up the project as a template. Anyone who wishes to use the template as a starting point can open the archived project, which now lives under the 'Archive' tab of 'Projects,' copy and rename it, reassign the jurisdiction for the project, and then save it as a new project.
Our diagrams are created by our illustrations team. They take a conservative approach to illustrating diagrams to stick to the wording of the code. As we receive input from users or find amendments that would change the diagram, we will make state specific illustrations or modify the diagram based on input from users, if necessary.
We're always looking to improve, and any suggestion is greatly appreciated! Users can place requests by emailing support@up.codes, utilizing the chat feature, or by selecting the "Feedback" option on the left-hand side and filling out the form.
